2008

Revised Nov. 2007
The Memphis and Shelby County Science and Engineering Fair (MSCSF), dedicated to academic excellence through the application of scientific discovery, has been held consecutively since 1954. The MSCSF is affilliated with the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel-ISEF). "An Intel ISEF-affiliated science fair is a science competition that is a member of the Intel ISEF network. These competitions exist in 46 states and the District of Columbia, and over 40 countries and territories. All Intel ISEF-affiliated science fairs register with Science Service and must consist of five participating high schools or 50 students in the ninth through twelth grades. Fairs are conducted at local, regional, state and national levels."
  • The Science Fair is an educational event open to all students from all schools in the county (including Home Schools).
  • It co-operates with area schools by helping foster the application and review of the scientific inquiry by many students.
  • Students learn to work on scientific research projects spanning months and sometimes years in the pursuit of discovery.
  • Through organized competition, students can win prizes, trips, and scholarships.
  • Students learn to communicate with highly qualified Judges to explain their research and discoveries, and prepare for possible participation in the Intel-ISEF.
